Cellulaze treatment works because instead of only treating the surface of the skin (like many creams and topical products on the market) it treats the structural problems underneath the skin that cause cellulite. The treatment involves tiny incisions that are created in the skin; local anesthesia or numbing solution is used to keep patients comfortable. The Cellulaze laser fiber is attached to a very small cannula (hollow tube) and inserted through each incision. The laser liquefies the trapped fat, which is then gently removed from the body. The laser also releases the fibrous bands that pull down on the skin. This eliminates the dimpled look of cellulite. In addition, the treatment stimulates collagen production to increase skin elasticity for a smooth and healthy look.

Drs. Umansky are able to complete Cellulaze in the comfort and safety of their office surgical suite. Shortly after Cellulaze treatment, patients may experience mild bruising and discomfort, and may be asked to wear a compression garment to facilitate healing. Most patients are able to resume their routine activities within two to three days and can exercise within two weeks.
