As we age, connective tissue below the surface of the skin becomes tighter and more rigid. At the same time, pockets of fat begin to push up to the skin’s surface, creating a dimpled appearance. As skin begins to thin – a natural part of the aging process – those dimples can become even more prominent.

Cellulaze addresses both the connective tissue problem and the isolated pockets of fat. A small laser is used to release connective tissue, reducing dimpling. At the same time, pockets of fat are liquefied by the laser, so the fat can be eliminated naturally by the body. Finally, Cellulaze stimulates collagen production beneath the skin’s surface, leading to thicker, healthier skin.

Cellulite Treatment with Cellulaze in La Jolla / San Diego

Cellulaze treatment works because instead of only treating the surface of the skin (like many creams and topical products on the market) it treats the structural problems underneath the skin that cause cellulite.

Cellulaze is a minimally-invasive procedure performed on an outpatient basis. Patients are usually given local anesthesia and sedation to ensure their comfort throughout the procedure. A small fiber is inserted into the treatment area via tiny incisions, allowing for delivery of the laser energy directly into the cellulite. The procedure usually takes between 60 and 90 minutes to complete.

After treatment, patients are encouraged to wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and promote healthy blood flow and healing to the area. Regular activities can usually be resumed within 2-3 days. Strenuous exercise may be prohibited for up to two weeks.

Results of Cellulaze can be seen within a few weeks and continue to improve in the months following the procedure. This treatment offers long-term results and can be customized to the unique needs and desired results of the individual patient. In addition to a smoother appearance, Cellulaze improves skin quality for more dramatic, long-lasting results.

William Umansky, MD and Jeffrey Umansky, MD are the first surgeons in San Diego to perform Cellulaze treatments in their La Jolla office. The procedure is relatively quick and downtime is minimal. To learn more about Cellulaze, contact us for a consultation.
