HOW DOES COOLSCULPTING® WORK?
The controlled cooling delivered to the treatment area (temperatures about 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit) freezes and crystallizes the fat cells, which causes them to die. This is achieved without harming the surrounding tissues, as fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than your other cells.
Your body’s lymphatic system processes the dead fat cells over the next several weeks, and they are eliminated through your body’s natural waste removal systems. The result is more slender, sculpted body contours.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR COOLSCULPTING®?
CoolSculpting is ideal for male and female adult patients who have smaller areas of fat deposits and want to avoid a liposuction procedure. CoolSculpting addresses subcutaneous fat, which is fat just beneath the skin that you can pinch. Patients should be at a healthy weight and have unsuccessfully tried to eliminate stubborn excess fat with a healthy lifestyle. Candidates for CoolSculpting should also have realistic expectations about the results this treatment can provide and be in good overall health.
CAN I GET COOLSCULPTING® IF I’M OVERWEIGHT?
If you’re slightly overweight, you can still benefit from CoolSculpting. However, this treatment is not ideal if you are significantly overweight or obese, as it will not help you lose weight. If you have a large amount of excess fat, you may not see noticeable results from CoolSculpting. It also does not address deeper visceral fat. Instead, CoolSculpting is designed to treat stubborn pockets of localized fat that are resistant to natural fat reduction processes (diet and exercise).
At your personalized consultation, our CoolSculpting expert Cheyenne will listen to your goals and evaluate your desired treatment area(s) to determine if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting. If you are a candidate, she will help set realistic expectations by explaining what the procedure can and can’t do for you and answer any questions you may have.
