CoolSculpting for a Bikini Body

Published on June 28, 2018 by

Even though you may have stuck to your 2018 resolution to stay fit, and kept up your workout regimen through the winter months, there may be a few stubborn spots on your body that refuse to budge. This is probably a frustrating situation, especially since swimsuit season is just around the corner. Fortunately, at Umansky Medical Center for Plastic Surgery, we offer CoolSculpting, a non-invasive, virtually painless option for body contouring that can banish a bulging midsection and get you bathing suit ready in just a few sessions. And now, with the use of two CoolSculpting machines at once, treatment is even faster for multiple areas.

It used to be that liposuction was your only choice when you wanted to eliminate or “spot reduce” pockets of excess fat, but as technology has advanced over the years, there are now several nonsurgical options for getting rid of unsightly lumps and bumps. CoolSculpting provides a completely non-invasive way to eliminate that fat and achieve the figure that you’ve been working towards, with no surgery and no downtime.

What to Expect From Your CoolSculpting Sessions

When you come in for your CoolSculpting treatment at Umansky Medical Center for Plastic Surgery, you will see that we offer several different sized applicators that are designed to target specific areas of your body. Some of the most popular places that you may choose to treat with CoolSculpting in order to achieve a beach-ready body include:

  • Waist (love handles, muffin top)
  • Abdomen (upper abdomen under the chest, lower abdomen near bikini area)
  • Upper arms
  • Back (bra line)
  • Hips
  • Inner thighs
  • Outer thighs (saddlebags)
  • Knees (fat on the inner knees and behind the knee)

CoolSculpting technology has been proven to reduce excess fat in the targeted treatment areas by up to 25 percent, so the bathing suit body you’ve been working towards can be reached in just a few sessions.

Before your CoolSculpting session, you will get comfortable in one of our treatment rooms, and there will be gel pads placed over the areas targeted for fat reduction. The gel pads are used to provide extra protection for your skin and ensure comfort during your CoolSculpting treatment. The hollow-tipped vacuum applicator is then situated over the gel pads, and the pocket of excess fat is gently sucked into the tip. You may feel a tugging sensation initially, but as the temperature continues to drop, the treatment area becomes numb and the feeling diminishes.

Depending on the size of the treatment area and the applicator used, the treatment will usually be complete in 30-45 minutes, and you can immediately return to work and your other everyday activities. CoolSculpting is non-invasive and requires zero downtime, and while you may experience mild redness, numbness, swelling or bruising post-treatment, these are temporary and will subside in a day or two.

Results of Your CoolSculpting Treatment

CoolSculpting freezes the unwanted fat cells during your treatment. Once this occurs, the targeted cells die and are naturally removed by your body. The timing of results vary, and while you may see some results within three weeks of your treatment, your final results may not be visible for up to three months. Depending on your needs and desired results, you may need more than one treatment, but that is something you can discuss at your consultation.

Remember, CoolSculpting is a body contouring procedure, and not a method for weight loss, so you probably won’t see any changes on the scale, but what you will see is a tighter and more toned figure. And because once eliminated, the targeted fat cells are gone for good, so you will be able to maintain lasting results if you stick to a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

If you are frustrated by unattractive bulges that spoil the slender, summer-ready contour you’ve worked hard to achieve, it may be time to explore your CoolSculpting options at Umansky Medical Center for Plastic Surgery. Call our office today at 858-550-9697 to schedule a consultation.
